CD release -- you'll surely hear something from The View From the Harbor
Sunday, May 24, 2009, 12:00 noon til 6:00 p.m.
Picnic at Island Park, Geneva, CD release PARTY
We're having a party -- a picnic --
to celebrate the release of The View From the Harbor my 16th CD Rain or shine, we have reserved the Pavilion at Island Park in Geneva, Illinois
(Same location where the Fox Valley Folk Festival takes place every September)
Park in the Kane County Government Center Parking Lot (it's a park, too) 719 S Batavia Ave, Geneva, IL *That's Route 31* and follow the footbridge (running under the Metra Train tracks) to the Island. This mapquest link shows the parking and the island. (It is within walking distance of the Geneva Metra Station--right across Rt 31 from the Government Center) or on the bike trail that runs up and down the Fox River.
You are invited to come out to help us celebrate. It's free, some of the musicians on the CD may join us, and lots of friends, we hope.
It will be very informal, bring a picnic lunch or a dish to pass, and your own dishes and table settings. (Just like you'd bring to your family reunion on Memorial Day weekend. We'll have a couple of charcoal grills fired up. Email us if you have any questions. We hope you will come.
Saturday, May 30, 2009 (optional May 29 Boatel)
Annual Boatnerd Gathering All-day Cruise on the SS Badger Cross Lake Michigan on the historic SS Badger Carferry from Ludington to Manitowoc and back
I'll give two concerts, and other Boatnerds will make slide presentations (some awesome photos), plus there will be plenty of time for informal sharing and socializing. More info at http://www.boatnerd.com link to "Gatherings" right on their front page. (Take some time to look around their awesome site, they have links to almost everything relating to Great Lakes and merchant shipping).
Optional: Stay over Badger Boatel on Friday Night, May 29 There are 70 double-occupany staterooms (very small sleeping rooms!) available on Friday night, May 29, and the lucky Boatnerds who board after 7 pm on Friday night often enjoy special privileges, including possible tour of the engine room and pilot house, and other parts of this magical boat which are not accessible at any other time of the year. (Boatel registration deadline is coming up soon). For those looking for "less-Spartan" accommodations, there are several nice B&B's in downtown Ludington as well, and our friends from Wisconsin have made the "reverse sail" coming over on Friday afternoon from Manitowoc, and staying in the Boatel for the return voyage with other Boatnerds.
